100% Pinot Noir made from select grapes grown in estate vineyards. After controlled fermentation, the wine continued extended skin contact for an additional six days to maximize aromatics and colour. It was then carefully aged in oak barriques. Don Francisco Undurraga was among Chile's winemaking pioneers. In 1885, he personally brought vines from France and Germany to plant on his estate 34 kilometers from Santiago, in the heart of the Maipo Valley. Traces of the original estate still exist today on the Maipo property. The winery has been a pioneer in exploring the emergent Chilean valleys of Colchagua and Leyda, rigorously studying the different types of soils, climates, and matching them to the physiological behavior of the varieties.

"This Leyda Valley pinot noir opens with roasted branch and tar, carrying through to a sweeter, ripe, black and red fruited body. Earthy mushrooms, roasted red pepper and poultry spice dominate the fleshy palate, overshadowing the warm, round fruit. The finish is shorter and warm. Certainly much more old school Chile than finessed pinot, but would suit hearty beef or pork stews."
