100% Pinot Noir made from select grapes grown in estate vineyards. After controlled fermentation, the wine continued extended skin contact for an additional six days to maximize aromatics and colour. It was then carefully aged in oak barriques. Don Francisco Undurraga was among Chile's winemaking pioneers. In 1885, he personally brought vines from France and Germany to plant on his estate 34 kilometers from Santiago, in the heart of the Maipo Valley. Traces of the original estate still exist today on the Maipo property. The winery has been a pioneer in exploring the emergent Chilean valleys of Colchagua and Leyda, rigorously studying the different types of soils, climates, and matching them to the physiological behavior of the varieties.

"This Leyda Valley gets a lot of kudos for its cool climate sauvignon blanc, but the pinot noir has been moving forward slowly but surely in the background. Expect an earthy palate of mushroom and sour cherries, with a hint of five spice in the finish. It's fresh at 13.5 percent, and you can drink this now. Clean, fleshy, and at 13.5% alcohol, very drinkable. Good value..." - Anthony Gismondi

"Fresh, dependable, classic. This dependable Chilean Pinot from the cool, fog infused Leyda Valley expresses aromas of red cherry and cranberry, bacon fat, forest floor, wild herbs, dried violets, star anise and leather. The palate has a juicy yet savoury character with spice, red fruit and leather flavours. Classic, silky and fresh. You can't go wrong with this one."

"Honestly? I still can’t get over the price of this pinot for the quality. A fairly bold Pinot Noir with a wide range of berry fruits on the nose and palate, but also a deep smokiness and woodsy/herbal depth. The smokiness is a little more apparent on the palate along with some fairly serious tannins lending some weight. I’d gladly match this up with good, beefy dishes, or some hard cheese."

"Fresh, dependable, classic. This dependable Pinot expresses sweet red cherries, cedar chips, leather, forest floor, bacon fat, saddle leather, vanilla and cocoa aromas. Flavours echo the spice, cherry liqueur and cocoa from the nose; the palate has good backbone and is savoury and fresh. Classic pinosity here."

"As the years tick by, it is clear the world is catching up to Burgundy when it comes to pinot noir. It's not that they are creating Côte d'Or reds that rival the French standard, but they are making wines that respect the grape, and they seem to be getting the most out of their terroir. Case in point, Sibaris 2018. This Leyda Valley pinot noir opens with earthy, forest floor that underlies a sweet pinot entry full of ripe, cherry before finishing with a touch of poultry spice. Clean, fleshy and at 13.5 percent alcohol, very drinkable. Good value at $18."

"Just as fragrant and fresh as when I tasted it a year ago, this value Pinot suggests raspberry and star anise, cherry cola, carob, violets and tealeaf aromas. It's a juicy red with sweet expressive red fruit, spice and fine white peppery flavours.
Approachable and very tasty."

"Dark in color, this offers cherry and plum aromas that show a hint of oak. It's medium to full in body, with plum, raspberry and dry oak flavors. A mix of red fruit notes and oak concludes this robust Pinot Noir."

Top 100 Wines of 2017 "Juicy, dependable, silky. A truly dependable Pinot, modern and just a little flamboyant, the Sibaris doles out sweet raspberry, sarsaparilla, tea leaf and baking spices with a generous splash of violet aromas. It has sweet and juicy fruit on the palate, it is silky and spicy with an attractive plush weight. Crowd-pleaser."

20 Under $20 in BC "For the juicy lamb burgers on the menu, a glass of gutsy, fragrant Undurraga 2014 Sibaris Pinot Noir Gran Reserva is just the ticket. I believe this to be one of the best value pinots on the planet."

"This Leyda Valley pinot noir opens with roasted branch and tar, carrying through to a sweeter, ripe, black and red fruited body. Earthy mushrooms, roasted red pepper and poultry spice dominate the fleshy palate, overshadowing the warm, round fruit. The finish is shorter and warm. Certainly much more old school Chile than finessed pinot, but would suit hearty beef or pork stews."
"Pinot Noir is one of the grapes that seems to sit well with those bothered by red wines, likely because it tends to be low in tannins and histamines. The challenge with Pinot is that most decent examples are upwards of $30 which makes this Chilean wine an appealing option that is remarkably good for the price. It is soft and juicy with vibrant raspberry flavours and a touch of classic Pinot spice. It would go well with charcuterie and hard ripened cheese."
