Intense garnet.
Essence of menthol notes mixed with blackcurrant fruit and a range of wild red forest fruit aromas.
Generous and seductive palate with a touch of spices mixed with redcurrant and a hint of liquorice. The mouth is smooth and creamy all around, has an expansive finish and displays well integrated soft tannins.
Pairs well with grilled pork, braised short ribs, and beef stews.
The single parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon grows on the radiant slopes of the Sierra de l’Ombría where the sun shines 300 days a year. The 35 years old Cabernet Sauvignon thrives with the help of the Mediterranean cool wind swaying across the valley of Fontanares which regulates the fresh summer nights. Over the years the French varietal has slowly adapted its noble character with our Valencia terroir and, as a result, earned its unique personality.
This unique label was inspired by winemaker Nathalie Bonhomme’s trip to Tofino on Vancouver Island, B.C.
2022 -
"The ripe Mediterranean 2022 Caminos del Bonhomme Cabernet Sauvignon has a moderate 13.5% alcohol, denoting moderate ripeness and keeping very good freshness. It's not really varietal, as there is a notable absence of pyrazine. It's textured, with the fine tannins from the variety and a chalky twist. It matured in used 225- and 500-liter barrels for 14 months..." - Luis Gutiérrez
2022 -
"A crunchy cabernet that shows aromas of red currants, olives and fresh herbs. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and juicy tannins. Savory and gently leafy. Drink now."
2020 -
"A juicy Cabernet Sauvignon with currant and walnut character, as well as sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, chewy and flavorful. Punchy with rather firm tannins. Better in a year or two when it will have softened."
2020 -
"The Mediterranean red 2020 Caminos del Bonhomme Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe without excess and avoids the green notes the variety can provide while keeping the alcohol level at 14%. It's faintly varietal, serious and with fine-grained tannins and supple flavors. It matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 14 months."
2018 -
"The serious 2018 Caminos del Bonhomme Cabernet Sauvignon was produced by Rafael Cambra in his winery in Valencia. It's ripe without excess, avoiding the green notes the variety can provide but keeping the herbal and spicy profile intermixed with notions of red fruit, quite attractive and fresh. It has the textbook, fine-grained varietal tannins and supple flavors. It matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 18 months."
2018 -
"A rather straightforward cabernet with currant, berry and some chocolate character. Medium body, light tannins and an easy finish. Drink now."
2017 -
"Very fresh and vibrant summer berries with florals that add interest and appeal on the nose. The palate has a very juicy and fleshy feel with succulent, lithe and juicy blue fruit to close. Drink or hold."
2017 -
"Caminos is a single parcel of 30-year-old cabernet sauvignon that grows on the radiant slopes of the Sierra de L'Ombría, in Valencia. After a traditional ferment, it spends 22-24 months ageing in French Taransaud oak barrels. The attack is fresh with prominent acidity and herbaceous red fruit. Lively and linear, this red calls for grilled meats to pull the edges back in. Best cellared through 2021 to allow it to settle into itself."
2016 -
"Ripe wild raspberries with very vibrant, succulent, mid-weight tannins. This is a really attractive, youthful drink-now style."
