On February 27, a major earthquake with an 8.8 magnitude occurred in Chile. According to preliminary reports, authorities estimate more than 700 people have died and two million people have been affected. A second quake of 6.9 magnitude hit the rebuilding country less than two weeks later, on March 11.
The International Federation of the Red Cross has launched a preliminary appeal for $7 million to support relief efforts in Chile. Funds raised will provide 15,000 families with relief goods, tents and tarpaulins as well as a field hospital, generators, water and sanitation teams and logistics support over the next six months.
Undurraga and Viu Manent wineries will donate $1 from each bottle of wine purchased, to the Canadian Red Cross’ earthquake relief efforts in Chile.
The donation will be in effect from March 15 – April 15 to a maximum donation of $4,000.
