Southern Rhone Valley, France

The “brand” Pierre-Henri Morel was created in 2008 when Pierre-Henri Morel and Michel Chapoutier purchased twenty acres of vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape located in the Pignan, Bois Dauphin and Barbe d’Asne lieux-dits. Pierre-Henri is wholly responsible for the style of the wines, which are made at the Chapoutier winery using the full extent of the equipment and expertise available there.

More Info

The winery takes his name from a young winemaker native from Rhone Valley who has a true passion for Southern Rhone wine, food and "art de vivre". After 7 years working with Michel Chapoutier at this world acclaimed winery, he was proposed the exciting adventure of scouting for a new vineyard in Chateauneuf du Pape to create his own wines.

In 2008: Pierre Henri found a fantastic terroir on the mythical "Pignan" district in Chateauneuf du Pape and they purchased 4 hectares of a single vineyard. This was the first stone of a range of wines truly representative of the southern Rhone and more especially Grenache expression.

"A juicy, fruity and pulpy red, this shows aromas of dark cherries, roasted meat and peppercorns. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Plenty of berry character and herbs on the palate and a spicy finish with some dark chocolate character. Drink now."

"A small commune in the Gard, Signargues is an often-overlooked source for solid red wines. The PHM 2019 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues delvers ripe black cherries and blueberries, ample weight and richness on the full-bodied palate and a long, richly textured finish. I actually preferred it to this producer's Gigondas, although it may not be as long lived."

"Lots of red, blue, and black fruits as well as notes of peppery herbs and leather emerge from the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues. Medium-bodied, with a supple, charming style, light tannins, and a great finish, this impressive Signargues will deliver the goods over the coming 4-6 years or so."

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Nov/2018

2017 -

"A 75-25 blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues features dark, plummy fruit. Black cherries and ripe stone fruit join in, giving this full-bodied wine additional flavor interest. It's chewy and tannic, in need of a bit more time to come together, but it should drink well from 2019-2023."

"Deep colored, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues checks in as a mix of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Carignan raised all in tank. It has tons of minerality, lots of blackberry and currant fruits, a deep medium to full-bodied profile, and a great finish. It's going to be another terrific value in this lineup."

"From clay and rolled stone soils that are baked by the sun, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues checks in as a mix of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Carignan that was destemmed and brought up all in concrete tanks. Black cherries, dried earth, hints of leather, and peppery herbs all emerge from this silky, polished, fruit-loaded beauty. It's a terrific wine as well as a smoking value."
