"Château des Jacques is the Jadot outpost in Beaujolais. Grand Carquelin lies just under the windmill, with a south-east exposition and lies on thin, pink-granite soils. A very elegant Moulin-à-Vent, this is much more about terroir and refinement than outright structure or power. Intriguing nose with hints of kirsch and black cherry, with hints of spicy oak. The palate is smooth, ripe and precise. Everything is in fine balance and this will age well for 5+ years."

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit, succulent acids and ripe, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, oak-inflected finish. While this is currently quite marked by its élevage, it promises to become nicely integrated with time."
