Burgundy, France

Maison Louis Jadot’s story can’t be reduced to a simple list of dates. It is, above all, a summary of moments, meetings and an overall philosophy, all based on one simple vision: to maintain the grandeur of Burgundy’s great terroirs for all time.

It all began with a parcel of vines. And we all know just how important these individual bits of land are in Burgundy. It was with the purchase of the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the story of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. For nearly 200 years they have focused their energies on promoting Burgundy and its viticultural heritage. Ever since the birth of Maison Louis Jadot, they have managed to reunite hundreds of parcels of vines, handing them down from one generation to another in order to guarantee the quality of the wines from this unique terroir.

"Concentrated red berries layered with soft black fruit; soft and gentle with zippy, fresh acidity."

Christopher Waters, The Globe and Mail, Jul/2024

2023 -

"This popular label isn’t notably aromatic, but really delivers on the palate. The faint earthy aromas give way to nicely focused and appealing juicy red fruit (red currant, cherry) flavours. This offers a fresh and bright style, with harmony and charm. Drink now-2029."

Gismondi on Wine, Apr/2025

2023 -

"The Jadot Beaujolais Villages Combe aux Jacques is a solid fruity gamay with round, soft textures. The grapes hail from the southernmost part of Burgundy. The flavours of blackcurrants, cherries, and raspberries are all aged in used oak, allowing the wine to expand without tainting the juice with oaky notes. It is an excellent introduction to the world of gamay, offering more for less." - Anthony Gismondi

"This always charming Gamay is even prettier this vintage with cherry twizzler, grape soda, violets, vanilla, forest floor and cedar aromas. It is silky and juicy with high-toned red fruit flavours. Long and charming with fine, chalky tannins. Always a pleasure."

Gismondi on Wine, Feb/2024

2022 -

"From one of the largest negociants running Bourgogne (and, hence, Bojo), the 2022 Beaujolais Villages came from three sites in the appellation, including some grapes coming from the Cru Régnié. Vinified semi-carbonic, this lighter red is pinched in with tart cherries and raspberry and sided with sticky tannins, taking this to a snappy finish. A simple bistro red, ready for sausages." - Treve Ring

Gismondi on Wine, Nov/2024

2022 -

"Louis Jadot is a respected name in the negociant business with plenty of grape resources across Beaujolais and Bourgogne. In 2022, their Beaujolais Villages was a blend of three sites, including one of the newer crus Régnié, which may explain its medium-dark colour. The nose is slightly muted with a dry, earthy tone and sour cherry with a pinch of wild raspberries in the back end. The texture is soft, and it is ready to drink. Best with grilled meats or chicken." - Anthony Gismondi

Decanter World Wine Awards 2022

David Lawrason, Wine Align, Sept/2018

2016 -

"This vintage is a lovely expression of Beaujolais, with freshness, elegance yet a sense of richness as well. The nose shows fine strawberry/cherry fruit, florals and light peppery spice, with a subtle woodsy undertone. It is medium bodied, quite smooth then underpinned by fine acidity and alcohol warmth. Fruit, florals and some granitic minerality linger on the finish, hitting excellent length. A bump up this vintage. Tasted Sept 2018"

Wine Spectator, Nov/2017

2016 -

"Mineral-driven, this light- to medium-bodied Gamay shows raspberry and currant fruit edged with white pepper and dried herb elements. Crisp and lightly tannic, with a spicy finish. Drink now through 2018. 230,000 cases made."

Wine Enthusiast, Mar/2018

"This wine has some structure, with an edge of dryness that highlights the ripe red fruits and acidity. A fruity wine from one of the top Burgundy producers, it is ready to drink now."

Decanter World Wine Awards 2018

"A simple strawberry nose, light elegant fruit braced with gentle tannins."

Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, May/2018

2016 -

"The 2016 Beaujolais-Villages is an appreciable step up over Jadot's regular Beaujolais, and it's a very attractive wine, opening in the glass with notes of ripe cherries, pomegranate, subtle licorice and dried herbs. Hearty in style, on the palate it's medium to full-bodied, with good concentration and depth at the core, framed by some youthfully chewy tannins and underpinned by succulent acids. For the exceedingly modest tariff it commands, this is really quite serious and I'd be inclined to give it another 6-12 months in the cellar before pulling corks."

Sara d'Amato, Wine Align, Sept/2016

2015 -

"A juicy and very characteristic Beaujolais offering notes of blueberry, bubblegum and black cherry on the nose. The palate is fruity, a little more substantial than the norm and nicely defined by balanced acidity. A polished gamay with intensity and freshness. Good value. Tasted September 2016."

David Lawrason, Wine Align, Sept/2016

2015 -

"This nicely captures the fruit, suppleness and charm of basic Beaujolais with perfumed, confected strawberry/cherry aromas and subtle woodsy and peppery notes. It's quite soft with some mid-palate elegance, low tannin and gentle warmth. Lacks a little intensity and depth, but it's a typical example. Good to very good length. Tasted September 2016"

Wine Enthusiast, Nov/2016

2015 -

"Red-berry fruits and a full-bodied texture form the hallmark of this ripe wine. It has spice, a rich character that is generous and fruity. The wine is ready to drink."

Wine & Spirits Magazine, Oct/2016

2015 -

"Violet scents add freshness to this wine’s lovely richness of fruit, the flavors of floral strawberry compote showing the ripeness of the vintage in their saturation. Cool and juicy, this is ready to enjoy with grilled chicken sausages."

Natalie MacLean, Sept/2017

2015 -

Best Value "Tart with lots of mouth-watering acidity on this Beaujolais wine made from the Gamay grape. Sour cherry and herbal notes. Pair with roast turkey."

Antonio Galloni's Vinous, Aug/2016

2015 -

"Bright magenta. Fresh and focused on the nose, displaying raspberry and cherry flavors and a hint of allspice. Bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors are given lift and spine by juicy acidity that adds refreshing cut to the back half. Finishes with repeating spiciness, a touch of candied red berries and good, gently tannic persistence."

2014 -

"This is one of the better vintages that I can recall, a lively, balanced gamay with lifted floral/red rose, strawberry/currant fruit and subtle herbal shadings of pepper and bay leaf. It's light to mid-weight, fresh, firm and juicy almost to tartness, with very fine tannin. The length is very good. It could use a light chill, but has such fine aromatics and balance I wouldn't want to dumb it down. Classic Beaujolais. Tasted Sept 2015"
