"The nose is intensely floral and expressive, with notes of blueberry, rosemary, garrigue, and a hint of lavender. The palate is very juicy, spicy, and full of character, with fabulous intensity, great freshness, and impeccable balance. It has it all: firm tannins, herbs, spices, and vibrant, ripe dark fruit. Earthy notes emerge on the finish. Wonderfully long, fresh, and spicy. This wine speaks clearly of its origin: a wild and extraordinary vineyard, with beautiful old vines."

"Quite ripe and a bit baked this year with lots of cooked cherries, hibiscus and herbs, it shows more vibrancy on the palate from the high acidity and fresher fruit. Chewy tannins lead the palate toward a fruity, structured finish." - Zekun Shuai

GOLD "Aromatic blackberry, violet petals and pink peppercorn notes provide interest and intrigue with a mouth-watering juiciness driving through the palate. Soothing, smooth and reassuringly long."

"The 2022 Red Field Blend is a mix of Malbec, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and País from Coronel del Maule. This aged in used 500-liter barrels. It is distinctive on the nose, with complex plum, violet, lavender, wild herb, cherry and elderberry aromas. Juicy and somewhat Bordeaux-like in profile, the finish is aromatic and savory, with herbal notes defining the aftertaste. Its eccentric personality is its charm. A lingering note of loose-leaf tea appears with time." - Joaquín Hidalgo

No. 74, JAMES SUCKLING'S TOP 100 WINES OF CHILE 2024 "Really fresh and solid fruit full of dark cherries, blue plums and blueberries with a splash of white pepper and hibiscus. Succulent and full-bodied on the palate with a mouthful of fresh, powdery tannins. Concentrated flavors without adding up the heft. Lengthy with subtle sweet spices at the end. A blend of malbec, carignan, cabernet sauvignon, cinsault and pais. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two."

"Such depth and profundity on the nose, with notes of violet and spice. The palate is so rich and ripe, and has such lovely tannins. Dark fruits with violet and minty notes come through, along with balsamic spice and leather, leading to a long and textured finish. A serious wine that needs time to express itself."

#20 of James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of Chile 2023 / #94 of James Suckling's Top 100 Value Wines of 2023. "Deep and exotic nose with lots of asphalt, mussels, mineral, incense and violets to the black and blue fruit. Wild herbs of thyme and oregano, too. Juicy and super fresh on the palate with plenty of silky tannins and fresh brambly and blue fruit in the finish. Long, very delicious and attractive. A field blend of 95% malbec with some cinsault, carignan and pais. Co-fermented. Drink or hold."

GOLD MEDAL "A multitude of inky blue and black fruits, dried herbs and mint which mingle beautifully with the seductive tannins and smoky, graphite core. Finessed and charming."
2021 -
"A co-fermented blend of Malbec, Cinsault, Carignan and País originating from vines planted in the 1960s, the 2021 Red Field Blend is a stunning expression of Maule. An opaque, impressively intense nose introduces a similarly powerful, sleek and dense palate. It finishes with a compelling combination of vibrant acidity, tensile minerality and layered, dark-fruited saturation. It fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral 500-liter barrels." - Matthew Luczy

"The 2021 Red Field Blend is 95% Malbec with dashes of Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and País from Cauquenes, Maule. It spent 14 months aging in 500-liter barrels. A rich purple in hue. The alluring aromatic profile features fresh plum with herbs and pure hints of sour cherry, sage and lavender. In the mouth, it’s juicy with a finely grained texture and young, expressive but compact flow. A wine sculpted by the cool, rainy year in the Maule dry farming region."

Gold Medal "Intense, youthful, concentrated wine with inky purple colour and lots of ripe dark fruit, elegant oak and a dense, tight texture."
2020 -
"The 2020 Red Field Blend was produced with grapes from an 80+-year-old vineyard in Coronel del Maule (Cauquenes) planted mainly with Malbec and a field blend of País, Carignan and Cinsault that was cofermented with native yeasts and 5% full clusters and matured in a 5,000-liter oak foudre for 14 months. It's dark, almost opaque, floral, heady and dense but with great acidity; it's powerful but fresh with 14.3% alcohol and amazing freshness and balance, especially for a warm and dry year like 2020. It has intense flavors of violets and is varietal and fine with very fine tannins, keeping the poise and elegance. 6,500 bottles were filled in October 2021. I'd love to see this at age 10."

The open aromatic profile features ripe plum with herbs and hints of sour cherry, sage and lavender. In the mouth, it’s juicy with a fine-grained texture and young, expressive but compact flow."

"Crushed mulberries and dried dark cherries with some thyme and purple flowers. A full-bodied red, underlined by a juicy core of black plums and black cherries, with a powerful but polished tannin frame. Good length, with wild berries, herbs and flowers. Carignan, cabernet sauvignon, cinsault and pais. Drink or hold."

"I love the new 2019 Red Field Blend produced with grapes from a vineyard that is planted with Malbec and contains an unknown percentage of País, Carignan and Cinsault. It's tremendously floral, perfumed and nuanced, elegant and showy, open and expressive. It's ripe but has very good freshness, and the oak is neatly integrated, and the acidity if vibrant and lifts the wine up. It's super tasty and persistent. Bravo! It matured in a 5,000-liter oak foudre for 14 months. 4,400 bottles were filled in November 2020."

"Presented as a traditional field blend, this wine includes malbec, cabernet sauvignon, carignan, cinsault and país. And yet, with all those varieties to choose from, it actually tasted more like a spicy nebbiolo. The tannins are black and tarry, a contrast to the sweet strawberry-scented fruit, coming together in a wine that feels open and welcoming. Wrapped in a brown paper bag, this wine lasted on my counter for a week, seemingly impervious to oxidation, using the time to gain layers of complexity and mystery."

"A medium-to full-bodied red with aromas of black plum, blueberry, cedar and dried lavendar. Firm, velvety tannins and a creamy texture. Polished and concentrated. Drink or hold."
2019 -
"The 2019 Red Field Blend is mostly Malbec with 7% Carignan and 7% Syrah from Maule, aged in used 500-liter barrels for 12 months. Intense violet in hue. The diaphanous nose features ripe plum and white pepper and secondary woody notes. In the mouth, this is expressive with a lovely freshness and complexion and fine grippy tannins enlivened by a juicy acidity. A rewarding wine."

2018 -
"This Maule Valley field blend of Malbec with 10% Carignan, Garnacha, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the southern end of the region, close to the Itata Valley, where the temperatures are cooler. Big, bold and perfumed, with violet and black tea aromas and fig damson and blackberry fruit, this is very promising indeed. 2023-28"

"A medium-bodied red with aromas of blackcurrants, dried strawberries, rose petals, dark spices and chocolate. Sleek, tight-grained tannins and crisp acidity frame a juicy, flavorful core of red and black fruit. Drink or hold."
