Tommasi viticoltori is located in Pedemonte, a small village in the heart of the 'Valpolicella Classico region, in the northwest part of Verona. From grandfather Giacomo Tommasi's tiny vineyard, the Tommasi estate has grown steadily over the course of years and today it extends over 195 hectares of hillside vineyards blessed by Mother Nature for its perfect suitability for grapes.
This wine is produced with grapes selected from the Venetian regions, a part of which are partially dried before being gently pressed.

"A medium-bodied, vibrant Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot red wine blend made in a similar method as Amarone wines. Concentrated with spicy dried fruit, dark cherry, ripe plum, savoury herb and nutty flavours rich on the palate. "Graticcio" is the term for the traditional bamboo racks used for air-drying grapes after the harvest; a technique that concentrates the flavours in the grapes."

Best Value "From Tommasi, a medium-bodied vibrant Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot red wine blend made in a similar method as Amarone wines. When wine grapes are harvested, they are air-dried, thereby concentrating the flavours prior to fermentation. Lush and spicy with dried fruit, dark cherry, savoury herb and nutty flavours rich on the palate."

Best Value "From the Veneto wine region and famed producer Tommassi, Graticcio Appassionato (2014) is a full-bodied and balanced red wine with great acidity and length. "Graticcio" is the local name for the traditional bamboo racks where the grapes for this wine are laid down and dried in the open air after the harvest and before vinification to add body, flavour and depth to the wine. Fleshy ripe sweet black cherries on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, smooth Italian red wine. Pair with spicy sausages."

Best Value "Fleshy ripe sweet black cherries on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, smooth Italian red wine. Great price for this quality! Pair with lasagna or sausage. Food pairings: gourmet burgers, lamburgers, prime rib, lasagne, sausage."

"Graticcio translates to "trellis" and is in fact the local name for the bamboo mats used to dry the grapes for the first stage of the appassimento process. An appassionato is an enthusiast and because this Tommasi appassimento uses grapes from beyond the borders of the Classica Valpolicella region, some fun and enthusiastic imagination is employed in the labelling. It is in fact classic, red fruit and high-toned appassimento styling, with a touch of sweetness and a whole lot of soil, mineral and red citrus fruit tang."
